Beatty Bobcats,
It is with great excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the interim principal at Patricia Beatty Elementary School. It is truly an honor to become a part of the Bobcat family and community. Even though I have only had limited interactions with the faculty and parents thus far, I can already tell that it is a unique and special place that I am incredibly excited to join.
My passion for education and supporting the success of all students has been shaped over the past 25 years in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles, primarily in Riverside Unified School District. I spent 19 years as a teacher before moving into educational leadership, most recently serving for 3 ½ years as the assistant principal at Chemawa Middle School. I am excited and eager to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child's success.
We are experiencing an unprecedented time in education with many challenges. I can assure you I share in Beatty’s commitment to caring for our children each and every day while providing them the best possible learning environment. I believe wholeheartedly that every student deserves a quality education and that only happens when the school and the families work together for the best interests of our children. With that in mind I will be calling on all of our faculty, staff, and parents to work together so we can best serve our children.
Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the success established at Beatty by building strong relationships with parents, students, and community members. To begin that process, I plan to offer a virtual “Meet and Greet” via Zoom in the next two weeks. Details will be sent out in a future message.
I look forward to a great year! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas that you would like to discuss.
Sincerely,

Mark Colwell
